The minimum requirements for entrance to South African universities are determined by HESA. Over and above that most Universities and even individual faculties have their own admission requirements. Most Universities scrutinise their applicants’ results from the end of Grade 11 through to their final results at the end of Grade 12. Based on these results and the Universities’ own access tests, they may be able to offer provisional acceptance before the final examination results are published.
