Vision

J.S. Bach said,   “The aim and final end of all music should be none other than the glory of God and the refreshment of the soul.”

The El Shaddai Christian School has a well-established Music Department that fervently agrees with this vision of Bach. We also endeavour to awaken and nurture a sense for and an appreciation of beauty in every learner. It says in the Scriptures that God made everything beautiful in its time and that he also put eternity in our hearts.

The Music Department teaches music to individual pupils as well as groups from Grade 0 to Grade 12. Tuition is available in the following instruments:

·                     Recorder

·                     Piano

·                     Keyboard

·                     Voice

High School learners who have reached the required level (usually Grade 2 Unisa level) can choose Music as a subject, following the IGCSE and AS Level Cambridge curriculum, which is examined by Cambridge International Examinations.

The After Hours Music School also offers tuition after school hours, offering the above instruments, as well as:

·                     Guitar

·                     Drums

·                     Flute

·                     Violin

Why we teach Music

Not because we want you to major in music

But because we expect you to play and sing all your life

Not so that you can relax

Not so that you can have fun……

But so that you will be human

You will recognize beauty

You will be sensitive

You will be close to an infinite beyond this world

You will have something to cling to

You will have more love

You will have more compassion

You will have more gentleness

You will have more good

In short:   MORE  LIFE!!
